The solution
Planet Technologies used Windows Vista–based solutions to help U.S. Federal Government Agencies overcome the challenges of an increasingly mobile workforce. According to Andrew Norris from Planet Technologies, the upgraded security capabilities of the Windows Vista operating system are key.
“The new security upgrades enable us to offer our clients the secure configuration they need. Features like Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption and the new mobility functions within the operating system help our clients adjust to how their workforce expects to function in today’s wireless world, while still keeping their data secure,” said Norris.
The Planet Technologies team is also impressed with the flexible configuration abilities of Windows Vista. “It gives IT the ability to configure computers to fit how different people within an organization work. Whether that’s on a desktop for a 9 to 5 job or a laptop as they’re flying around the world,” Norris added.
The achievement
The team at Planet Technologies also likes the stability of Windows Vista. “It doesn’t matter what you throw at Windows Vista, it does it,” said Norris.
The same can be said for Planet Technologies. And that’s one of the reasons the team was named a Windows Vista Ambassador.
Sarah Fastabend from the Windows Vista Partner Ecosystem Team said, “Planet Technologies was a clear choice given their work to accelerate the deployment window for their U.S. federal and public sector customers.”
“Microsoft has always been a strong advocate of mobile technologies and workers. Planet Technologies’ solution, leveraging the Intel V-Pro capabilities in conjunction with both Windows BitLocker and the new IAG product, addresses the requirements of HSPD-12 within the federal space,” added Fastabend.
The destination
Galápagos Islands
Ecuador
The Planet Technologies team is set to explore the wonders and unique wildlife of the Galápagos Islands. They hope to visit the famous Charles Darwin Research Center.
It’s a fitting destination, since the team helped evolve the success of the Windows Vista launch. Congratulations.
