The solution
The team at Core Consulting, LLC, deployed a solution that allows an architectural
and landscaping design firm to use a tablet PC while visiting client sites. While
at the site with the client, the architects can update plans by sketching directly
on the tablet PC screen. The architect can then send updated files via e-mail back
to the main office for refinement by the team, who then send back an updated design
file that lets the client see what the changes will look like.
"We wanted a platform that would enable us to use the sketching functionality plus
robust and secure mobility. There's nothing else in any other platform on the market
that would allow us to do this," says Kninjnenburg.
Core Consulting was impressed with how smooth the transition to Windows Vista has
been for their customers.
"It's easy for our customers to become familiar with it. We were expecting a bigger
battle training our customers how to use it, but it just wasn't a problem. They
were up and running right away and haven't really had any problems since. Which
speaks to how solid Windows Vista is—there just aren't many things that will
go wrong," says Kninjnenburg.
"The tablets were so successful, now we have a plan to upgrade their entire office
with Windows Vista," adds Kninjnenburg.
Windows Vista is also allowing Core Consulting to add more value to the services
they offer customers.
"The management capabilities of Windows Vista are so much easier and efficient.
Now we can spend less time managing customer systems and more time working on projects
that will help them work more efficiently and effectively," says Kninjnenburg.
The achievement
The team at Core Consulting also appreciates the support of the Microsoft® Partner
Program.
"Having Microsoft behind you is nice because you always know you’re never standing
alone when going out to customers. The support lets us hit the ground running,"
says Kninjnenburg.
Microsoft is also very happy about the partnership, according to Sarah Fastabend
from the Windows Vista Partner Ecosystem Team.
"Core Consulting is a system integrator focused on small business. We were very
impressed by their use of the tablet technology with Windows Vista Business. They
were able to innovate on the platform by creating a value-added package for their
customers that enabled a mobile solution," says Fastabend.

The destination
New Zealand
The Core Consulting team has chosen the trip to New Zealand where they’re looking
forward to black water rafting and further exploration and relaxation along the
coast line.
